Daniel T. Iberer,  Battalion Fire Chief | EMT - Paramedic / EMS Operations Supervisor | Hazardous Materials Commander

Daniel is a public safety professional with more than 25 years of progressive leadership in fire suppression, hazardous materials response, emergency medical services, technical rescue, and incident command. He currently serves as Battalion Chief with the City of Newark Fire Department and Paramedic Tour Chief with University Hospital EMS.

His work centers on directing high-risk emergency operations, supervising multidisciplinary response teams, coordinating municipal and regional resources, developing operational policy, and strengthening organizational readiness through training and professional development. Daniel is recognized for decisive incident command, sound operational judgment, effective resource management, and a consistent focus on life safety, responder safety, and incident stabilization.

Daniel’s career includes fire service leadership since 2002 and EMS operations since 2000, with service as Hazardous Materials Team Captain from 2013 to 2021 and Paramedic Tour Chief since 2017. He combines technician-level hazardous materials expertise, advanced life support clinical experience, and command-level responsibility for complex urban emergency operations.

He strengthens programs with practical risk assessment, responder-centered training, and operational procedures that hold up under pressure. He brings extensive experience in crisis management, emergency preparedness, mass-casualty coordination, personnel development, interagency collaboration, and public safety administration, including policy development, operational reviews, and continuous improvement, while building a culture that treats safety as both a standard and a leadership responsibility.
