About VISTA
Built for the people who arrive first
VISTA - Vehicle Identification, Safety, Training & Awareness exists for one purpose: to help emergency responders immediately understand the vehicle's make, model, and propulsion type from a safe distance.
It is vital that First Responders recognize emerging vehicle hazards faster, understand them more clearly, and have a meaningful voice in how the systems around them are designed.
Firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS professionals, rescue personnel, trainers, and incident commanders are increasingly required to operate in complex transportation environments. However, first responders’ personal protective equipment offers only limited protection and can lead to secondary contamination after an incident.
Technology is moving quickly
The information responders need must move just as quickly.
Electric vehicles, hybrids, high-voltage systems, advanced restraint systems, automated driving technologies, electronic door systems, and new vehicle architectures are changing what responders encounter on the roadside, in parking structures, and at emergency scenes. VISTASAFETY.ORG brings together public safety responders, trainers, safety professionals, technical experts, insurers, property owners and managers, and advocates around a simple principle: The people expected to manage an emergency should be able to identify the hazards in front of them before they are forced to enter them.
